About Cook Art Center

Our Story

Founded by Chef Thomas Guirlcook, Cook Art Center was born from a love of teaching and a belief that everyone can cook. What began as small weekend workshops in a rented kitchen has grown into one of Birmingham’s most engaging culinary schools, offering dozens of classes every month.

Chef’s Journey

Thomas trained in some of Europe’s most respected kitchens before returning to his hometown to share his expertise. His philosophy blends discipline with playfulness - showing that even complex techniques can be learned with joy and patience.

Our Philosophy

We teach real-world cooking for real people. That means no unnecessary jargon, no pressure - just practical lessons you can take home. Every class is designed to boost confidence, creativity, and connection.

The Studio

Located at 21 Lechlade Rd, Birmingham, our open-plan kitchen features professional stations, premium utensils, and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re preparing a three-course meal or decorating cupcakes, you’ll feel like part of a community of food lovers.

Community Connection

Cook Art Center frequently hosts charity dinners, local ingredient showcases, and family days. By supporting nearby farms and markets, we promote sustainable cooking and healthy lifestyles across Birmingham.
